SOFY is the acronym for the Finnish Association for the Philosophy of Law, registered in Finland and based in Helsinki. SOFY is a learned society and member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, but it is also the Finnish national section of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR). In accordance with its rules, SOFY promotes awareness about legal philosophy (understood in a broad sense) mainly by arranging lectures and seminars. SOFY also acknowledges the work of young scholars in the field by awarding an annual student prize for the best master’s level thesis in the philosophy of law. The association has about 70 members, and it funds its activities by collecting an annual membership fee which is currently 15 euros.
